It’s a great time of year for another celebration. This time, New Orleans is celebrating the Irish.
St. Patrick’s Day is celebrated all over the city of New Orleans over the course of several days. Parades, block parties, and other gatherings will take place in New Orleans’ Irish bars, on street corners, and in the French Quarter. Read on for some great ways to celebrate St. Patrick’s Day this year.
Irish Channel St. Patrick’s Day Club Block Party
Start your St. Patrick’s Day weekend early on Thursday, March 15 at Annunciation Square. Irish music, food, and drinks are available all day long, from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. The party has Irish music, food, drinks, and dancers. Proceeds will benefit St. Michael’s Special School.
Molly’s at the Market & Jim Monaghan’s Parade
Molly’s at the Market, located on Decatur Street in the French Quarter, is one of New Orleans’ most famous Irish bars. Their parade will begin at 6 p.m. on Friday, March 16. Grab one of their famous frozen Irish coffees and check out the carriage riders and marching groups. The parade begins and ends at Molly’s: 1107 Decatur Street.
Tracey’s St. Paddy’s Day Party
Just down the street from another block party at New Orleans’ famous Parasol’s, Tracey’s Original Irish Channel Bar will host a celebration on March 17, from 11 a.m. until closing. Tracey’s can be accessed by streetcar from the French Quarter and is just a few blocks away from Magazine Street’s bustling business corridor.
Downtown Irish Club Parade
This must-see parade begins at 6 p.m. in the Bywater neighborhood on Saturday, March 17, at the corner of Burgundy & Piety, eventually heading up Canal to Bourbon Street.
